WRBBAC Behaviour Policy (October 2025)

(This policy should be read alongside the WRBBAC Safeguarding Policy and the BBAC Landowner Relations Code of Conduct.)

Purpose

The WRBBAC is committed to providing a respectful, safe, and welcoming environment for all. This policy ensures that:

  • The behaviour of members does not bring the WRBBAC into disrepute.
  • Members clearly understand expectations of behaviour.
  • Everyone feels respected, safe, and welcomed regardless of background, age, gender, race, sexuality, faith, or ability.
  • Complaints are dealt with fairly, transparently, and consistently.

Standards Of Behaviour

General Behaviour

All members are expected to:

  • Treat others with courtesy and respect, valuing different views and perspectives.
  • Dress appropriately for all WRBBAC activities.
  • Keep displays of affection private and appropriate.
  • Avoid using offensive, abusive, or discriminatory language.

Flying

  • All flying must comply with Air Law, BBAC Rules, and CAA instructions.
  • Pilots are responsible for ensuring their crew and passengers are familiar with the BBAC Landowner Relations Code of Conduct and any special agreements in place between WRBBAC and local landowners.
  • Up-to-date details of special agreements can be found on the WRBBAC website.

Complaints Process

Making a Complaint

  • Complaints should be submitted in writing to the WRBBAC Chairperson.

Procedure

  1. Complaint received by the Chair.
  2. Chair convenes a complaints panel of three committee members, including the Chair, ensuring no conflict of interest.
  3. The panel investigates, allowing all parties (including the subject of the complaint) to be heard.
  4. The panel decides on the appropriate outcome.
  5. The Chair informs all parties of the decision and files a written report with the Safeguarding Lead.

Possible Sanctions

Depending on the severity of the behaviour, sanctions may include:

  • A formal written or verbal apology.
  • Temporary ban from WRBBAC events.
  • Temporary ban from using WRBBAC launch sites.
  • Permanent ban from WRBBAC membership.
  • Reporting to the CAA.
  • Reporting to the police, if required.
